Dissapointed

Today I tried to order a replacement piece of glass for one of my customers at the Lakewood, Washington location and was told that they would not sell it to me because they were too busy. I understand that I am not a large contractor and that I do not purchase large quantities of windows, but one of the things that I have enjoyed about Lindsay Windows is the support that I have received.

It was disappointing to be told that I should go to South Tacoma Glass Specialists for my replacement.

I am in the process of doing a house remodel for a customer and the job includes replacing their windows. I was planning on putting in an order with Lindsay Windows but I am uncertain if I will do that at this point.

My husband and I built a new home in Grafton Wisconsin. The windows were supplied by Lindsay and the installers were a different company.

We moved into the home in September 2020 and after a week of unpacking I went to clean the windows and noticed that the lower sache of 6 or 7 windows was broken and that the stationary pane of the sliding glass door was scratched. I was told by Lindsay rep that it was my fault because I didn't open them correctly when I cleaned them I had actually called to our building expediter on the very day that I discovered the problem and still no one stood by the customer and the Lindsay rep stated to replace them would be our cost of a minimum of $1000. No one talked about going to the installer. No one assisted the customer to get this issue resolved and now 9 months later we are having issues with the lower saches now slipping out of the casing and the window coming out and we cannot get them back in correctly.

No assist from customer service.

No assist from our builder whom i would never recommend to anyone. Furious and sad.

Product Quality and Customer Service

The window quality is terrible with them developing cracks and gaps. In the worst case this resulted in a massive leak causing substantial water damage. Additionally, the customer service is terrible. The owner of the Seattle subsidiary is unprofessional and insulting. This company does not deserve your money.

I canceled a order. Been fighting them to get my money back.

It’s a total run around. The check is in the mail. Bunch of BS. Went to the AG’s office.

Filed a complaint. Been 6 weeks. Still no check. My cc company has filed a dispute against them.

The window company told me that the cc company paid me so they don’t have to. That is very stupid and reflects the attitude and mentality of this company. I have 19 email I can provide to prove all said. A law suit will be filed and its gonna cost them much more.

Real stupid isn’t it. PLEASE DO NOT deal with this company.

All the other reviews speak for them selfs !!!

Rather confusing. First, you said you want your money back but then you also seem to indicate you disputed the charge with your card issuer which would mean you didn't pay the charge in the first place.

Unless you were unwise and used a debit card and are awaiting a refund from/via your debit card issuer. Exactly how much money are you out of pocket?

I charged the order. Payed with cc.

3 days later cancelled the order. They said I would get my money back in about a week by check. I’ve tried everything I can think off. I have 20 email saying so.

6 weeks and no refund. Finally called my cc company that said it would be put back on my card but doesn’t mean it’s a refund. They will dispute the charge. If Lindsay Windows doesn’t pay them then it goes back on my card.

I’ve paid interest on the $6000 + they owe. I emailed the window company to let them know what I was forced to do to try and get back what they owe me. The emailed back saying that when the cc company gave me a credit that that was a payment back to me and I would not be receiving a check. That is completely wrong on there side.

I emailed back and told them. Said if they mailed me a check for the amount they owe I would call the cc company and drop the dispute. If they don’t pay me then they have to pay the cc company. No if and or buts.

If this is not resolved by THEM very soon ( not another 6 weeks ) a law suit will be filed for much more than what they owe. BBB has been informed of this issue. WA state AG has been informed about this issue. The feeling I’m getting from the Sherri at Lakewood office from all her emails is it’s a personal issue with her.

I have 20 emails from her that are saved. The cc company asked for them which I will send.

The attorney I talked to has read them. Once I give the attorney a down payment the suit will go on

I tried to get my money back for a period of time with nothing but BS ! I finally decided to go back to the cc co.

I shouldn’t have had to go for over a month for this ! More like 2 months !!!

After meeting with one of the owners and showing him the 37 emails I got from the sec.He gave my money back the next day. I hear the sec no longer work there shortly after these email were viewed

Lindsay Windows - TERRIBLE !!!!!!
Had Lindsay Pinnacle triple pane windows installed about 2 years ago. The installer(Scamman) brought this big presentation on how good Lindsay windows are. Complete lie. With in a few months all of the outer seals had to be replaced and the locking mechanisms had to be moved to make windows close tight. These are supposed to be the Top-of-the-Line windows. The noise level you here from the outside is awful. Air comes through and even had frost on my window trim on the inside this past winter. Company and installer don't care. Junk Junk Junk

This picture clearly shows air coming around the window and not through the window. The window is not the problem.

Lindsay has been in business since 1947 and will resolve any issue which is a problem with a Lindsay product.

Please call the Lindsay phone number 1-80*-***-**** or 507-625-**** and ask for an owner at Ext 222 or 234 and you will talk to one of the owners. We want any issue resolved.

Once they have the money you don't exist

The original order took 8 months to be installed. The windows were ordered correctly by Harley Exterior but came in with wrong or with defective glass. The Lindsay team has been out twice to fix the glass and screens that were defective but were not able to do that because either they brought the wrong type of glass or had miss-cut glass. It is 6 months later and on the third trip out I missed them by a few minutes and they left without a phone call to say they were there. My neighbor had to let me know they were standing around. I got no where when I asked it they could come back within a few minutes it was, 'you weren't there so sad too bad', screw you for another month. My advice is do not order from Linday Windows because even though they have a 'double lifetime warranty', it's only good if you can use it. It's cost me 5 vacation days so far and I will have to burn another one to finally get the windows fixed. No, we can work with you, no, sorry we missed you it's you weren't there when scheduled (10 minutes late) so you can wait 20 more days. Harley exteriors didn't put any pressure on Lindsay windows to return right a way even though I got there it was you had an appointment-too bad. $23K worth of too bad-don't use them.

We had 4 Lindsay windows installed in November of 2015 at a cost of over $6000.00 dollars. The salesman gave a great sales pitch and found a sucker. These windows leak air terribly, wouldn't drain worth a darn and frosted over as bad as my rotted out old Pella windows. I seriously don't believe these windows are the same as the salesman's sample brought into my home. Service was mediocre at best. I will never buy another Lindsay window ever again. Buyer beware these windows are NOT worth the money. I have more windows to replace but will not be buying anymore of these junk Lindsay windows. I am seriously thinking about filing a small claims action against the company for the poor quality of the windows. I believed I was buying a superior window and was duped into buying a poor quality window.

Thanks soooo much for your review!! I am in the process of getting different replacement windows because the Preservation windows I bought 5 years ago do this exact same thing.

Lindsay was one of the windows that a contractor recommended. I am soooo happy that I found this post from you before purchasing another whole house of terribly insulated windows.

Poor water drainage, leaks air, poor quality control.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Linday windows are bad! I did not have the choice of windows to be installed in my home. In less than one year, one window was replaced due to fingerprints INSIDE the window. The UV sunlight apparently develops them just like a Polaroid picture. The second major problem is the design of their slider windows. Rains in my state will easily over work the poor weep hole design and cause flooding inside the home. As a bonus, those water channels allow water to freeze inside and allow water to go behind the siding. Builders Millwork & Windows LLC tries to push off the issue as a "homeowner" problem and wants to charge money to look at their cut-rate windows. I had to place rope caulk on the outside of the window to prevent further leaking problems. On top of that, the seals of all the windows are failing and I'm having to tape them up like they are 40 year old sash windows. Even though these are not less than 7 year old "modern" high E windows. If I had a choice in the matter I would have put in quality windows. But, then again you can't really trust any company in this country always spending more on marketing than on workmanship. None of these installed windows had any labeling that you could read the brand nor type. I only found out from the Builders Millwork service tech when he came out to replace the one failed glass window. Who's to say you can trust even a random voice like mine? Signed, Frustrated.

Brand new sliding patio door is not airtight and left the factory defective

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I just had a very expensive sliding patio door installed last week and it also leaks air. I purchased the 2030 model, which is Lindsay's best. I used a general wholesaler/contractor for the install. I paid attention during the install and as I was checking the door, I could feel air movement at the bottom. The contractor's service manager, who was at my house, also checked the door over, and agreed with me that an excessive amount of air was flowing at the bottom of the door. It felt as if the door had been left open a crack. A Lindsay service employee had to come to my house to check the door. Apparently the door had left the factory defective; it lacked weather stripping, among other issues. The service employee applied Lindsay's version of weatherstripping, but I could still feel airflow. I was told this is "common" to patio doors, and yet when I was sold on Lindsay, I was told that it was "air tight". I was also told that when it rains, water may "trickle" across the track, and if the rain was really heavy it could be a "torrent", but this was "normal". It was part of the Lindsay design. My old patio door was 41 years old and never once did I have water in the track. I have to wait for three weeks for the part for the screen door. I do not consider the install of my patio door complete until I have a functioning door. The install was fine; the door is not. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company's products. No manufacturer should be okay with allowing defective product out the door.

Good windows. Poor screens.

I had Lindsay casement & awning windows installed last fall. The contractor was excellent - no problems with the windows. The screens, however, are a different matter. The mesh screening was installed poorly & will have to be redone. The extruded screen frame does not fit tight against the window. On the one occasion I opened the windows, the house filled with bugs. These windows were not cheap, & the poor quality of the screens leads me to question the quality of the windows themselves. If I had it to over again, I'd have gone with a window I could open. Any solutions?

Hello. I am sorry to hear about the problems with your screens!

There is a part of the screen called the "spline" that is used to hold the mesh into the screen frame. Based on your description of the screen problem, there could be a problem from our supplier with the mesh. If you could please call us at 507-625-**** (hit zero to speak to our front desk) we will address the problem and if needed, remake your screens. Your order number will provide us with when your windows were built and a full bill of materials.

We want you to be a satisfied customer, including your screens! Thanks and have a great day-

Lindsay Slider Windows

August 2010 we put in 6 Lindsay Slider windows.Had installer and sales person, even owner of company out. Contacted company a bunch of times after that. Finally got someone to come out. They replaced 1 window. These windows are terrible. Air leaks all over. The air leak was so bad that on one of the windows with a curtain, the curtain was moving in the air leak. We were also told that the windows met air infiltration standards to not leak but we could see water on the interior of the windows. And we have when it has rain real hard, we had water on the track inside the window. How can rain come in but not wind? We used more gas after we put these windows in then we had used before. Do not purchase Lindsay Slider windows. These are tilt-in windows. All they will do is either give us the other lift out sliders or we live with what we have and Buy PLastic to keep the cold out. We had the lift out sliders before and we went to these because it was getting so hard for me to lift them out. They will not compensate us at all.We live in Wisconsin so guess what, we have to put plastic on these new windows. Very disappointed!!!!!!!

We bought our Lindsay Pinnacle sliders in May. Haven't had to go through a winter with them, yet, so I hope they don't leak like honestmom claims.

Pinnacle is Lindsay's premium model. The two Lindsay reps I spoke to both said that Pinnacle is a superior window. The lower priced Lindsay windows (Sunview & Earthwise), they both said, are not! In fact, in the openings that I had, they didn't recommend the lower end Lindsay because they wouldn't be durable enough to cover the large window space.

The Pinnacle, however, is durable enough, and strong enough for any window space. These reps were from two very different companies and they both said the same thing. What that tells me is that going with any Lindsay model, other than the Pinnacle, is definitely settling for 2nd best (or worse). Disclaimer*** I never looked at the Lindsay Healthy model.*** I spent three months looking at vinyl sliders for my home.

I had seen almost everything and talked to almost everyone. What scared me away from several windows was high-pressure sales people. It's my theory that if you have a superior window (or any product), it should sell itself. That's what happened with me and Lindsay Pinnacle windows.

The Lindsay reps didn't pressure me one bit. And, after I looked at dozens of windows, I came back three months later to secure a deal for the Pinnacle windows. I'm very happy with them, so far. One other thing....I don't recommend "insert" windows in your home.

They are good enough, but they definitely don't look as good. We had inserts and a full "tear out" done with the Pinnacle windows. The inserts, at no fault to Lindsay or the installers, just look more bulky. Our full tear out is beautiful!

Everything is brand new and there is more window space. It just looks better!

Granted, the insert windows cost less for installation, but if we had to do it all over again, we would have paid the money for the full tear out and replacement.

The people that sold us the Lindsay windows never said anything about a PINNACLE window. They probably didn't even know about them.

I wish you luck with yours. Ours were JUNK. You don't get water on the inside track of a good window or watch drapes blow in the wind from a leaky window if its such a good window. Granted the installation was horrible.

When we had the new windows installed the Lindsay windows actually fell out because they weren't even screwed in.

They were just set in the opening and the trim put on. Our sales people didn't help either.

Installation is a huge part of energy efficiency. You say your windows weren't even screwed in, the proper way to install all windows is to shim the windows tight so air will not leak through, then screw them inplace, then insulate and caulk around the entire unit. You are blaming the window for your problems when you should be blaming the installers for not installing them properly.

So far, so good! We've had a few days below zero, now, and our Lindsay Pinnacle sliders are fantastic.

We've only put in three windows so far, but they are big windows, so these three are a good test. I will use Lindsay Pinnacle windows for the rest of my house, when needed. Just watch the humidity in your home. These windows will have condensation when its super cold outside.

Any window will, I think. My old windows, however, just turned to ice! When buying Lindsay, make sure you get the Pinnacle model and you will be happy....if you get quality installation. The sliders, like mine, are excellent, but I believe the crank outs or double hung are even better.

I still recommend a full tear out.

Any window will look better that way, but my two insert windows seem to be just as efficient as my full tear out.

I have Lindsay Pinnacle windows in my home. They were installed about 2.5 years ago and I haven't had a problem with a single one.

I am very pleased with how easy they are to clean! If I could do it over again I wouldn't have wasted my time with getting bids from other companies! LINDSAY WINDOWS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!

I recommend them to everyone I know who needs new windows or a patio door. :) Hope this helps!

Guest

We replaced all of our windows (about 26) with Lindsay casement (crank open) new installation windows. Windows are very tight, there is no air leakage. We used a high quality installer and are very satisfied with Lindsay casement windows.

Hi Greg, I can understand and sympathize with you over the substantial investment of windows for your new home and then being disappointed once they were installed and the home finished to find out they are not working for you. I worked for Lindsay Windows for 12 years in a management capacity and can assure you that the majority of the window complaints were directly attributed to the improper installation of the window, not from the manufacturing process.

The window is built at the facility in an environment where the window must be installed squarely in the existing hole as all windows and doors do. If the installer installs the window/door out of square, it will ultimately leak with either water or wind or both. The window is built to tolerances of equal to or less than .05 of an inch which is appr. 1/16th of an inch which allows for the expansion and contraction of the window during the 4 seasonal changes.

The weather-strip height and density used is also engineered and designed to eliminate drafts and water infiltration based on the window being manufactured. I have installed Lindsay windows for numerous friends in remodel and new home environments and have had no problems with them. Unfortunately poor installation of windows made by any manufacturers can give a bad name to the manufacturer. I am not certain of whether you acted as the general contractor or had a home builder build your home, but my advice to you is be proactive and with a positive approach is to contact the home builder if there is one, request a meeting between that person and the installer along with a representative from the Distributor you purchased the windows from along with a sales rep from the Lindsay Windows facility.

This will help you facilitate the corrective action needed to make you a satisfied customer. I can guarantee you that Lindsay Windows will do whatever they can to help you resolve the issues.

They have not grown to the size they are today by leaving a trail of disappointed customers. They are excellent windows.

I have Lindsay Windows and I am very pleased with them. Could your issues be an installation issue instead of the actual window causing the problem?

Wish you worked with our dealer...he was amazing. Good luck to you and hope your issues are resolved!
